What we do.

With a growing number of baking establishments throughout the state, it is necessary for a strong industry body to act as an information source for members, to protect the industry's interests and to seek and establish beneficial change. The Association is actively engaged in promoting the industry and its essential role as a part of the food and hospitality sector. The BIA (NSW) is a party to the negotiation of the Bread Industry (State) Award and the Pastry Cooks (State) Award in New South Wales.

The BIA (NSW) also acts as a lobbying group on behalf of its membership in matters affecting the industry, such as employment issues, the labour market, cost control, government and public policy. The Association provides advice to members and referrals to suppliers for a range of goods and services that are provided by our associate members.

The Association provides expert advice on every aspect of dealings with employees - whether it is a simple award enquiry or a complex unfair dismissal claim. The BIA (NSW) also provides representation for members in the Industrial Relations Commission and in Industrial Award negotiations. As an Associate Partner of the Office of the Employment Advocate, the BIA (NSW) is actively engaged in offering Australian Workplace Agreements into the Baking Industry.

The BIA (NSW) is a non-profit organisation funded by its membership. Many members view their membership as a form of insurance. They have confidence that the BIA (NSW) will be there to provide them with the right advice when they need it.
