For
over 125 years, what is now called the Baking Industry Association
(NSW Employers), has provided advice to and represented the
interests of businesses in the baking and pastry-cooking
sector. The BAA NSW will continue to assist the industry in NSW
The history of the BIA (NSW) brought together two independent associations - the Bread Manufacturers of NSW, Australia's first trade association originally established in 1876 and the Master Pastry Cooks Association of NSW registered in 1916. Through time these associations became The Baking Industry Association (BIA) and the Baking Industry Employers Association of NSW (BIEA) respectively. 1995 saw these two entities amalgamated into a single identity.
In recognition of the changing time and perhaps a new era, the face of the BIA (NSW) changed, represented by our distinctive new 'sheaf' logo.
This strong new identity is designed to acknowledge the origins of our industry, represent the industry's high standard of development in manufacturing technology, packaging and marketing - and with the crossover and tie to symbolise the interaction and unity of BIA (NSW) members
In 2011 the National Body the Baking Associations of Australia is now part of every state and territory. It was seen as the correct business decision to stop confusion and work as one under the BAA. The BIA NSW is now known as the BAA NSW
